Straw wattles are one of the simplest and most effective sediment control tools available on an active construction site. Rolled out along the contours of a slope or placed at the perimeter of a disturbed area, they slow sheet flow runoff, capture sediment, and give contractors a fast, low-cost BMP that installs without heavy equipment and conforms naturally to uneven ground.

For projects where natural materials are required or preferred, coir wattles deliver reliable sediment control and slope interruption performance without leaving any synthetic materials behind. Made from coconut fiber, coir wattles are fully biodegradable, fish and plant friendly, and well suited for sites where environmental permits, wetland regulations, or owner preferences restrict the use of synthetic sediment control products.

Coir fiber has a naturally slow decomposition rate, giving coir wattles a longer service life than straw wattles in applications where the sediment control device needs to remain effective through an extended vegetation establishment period. This makes them a practical choice for streambank stabilization, shoreline work, wetland restoration, and other sensitive site applications where longevity and environmental compatibility both matter.

Excelsior wattles bring the natural performance characteristics of wood fiber to sediment control and slope interruption applications where a durable, biodegradable tube needs to hold up through extended field exposure. The shredded wood fiber fill material absorbs moisture, slows runoff velocity, and captures sediment effectively while conforming to the slope contours and terrain irregularities that make flat-sided barriers less reliable on real jobsites.

Compared to straw wattles, excelsior wattles offer greater durability and a longer effective service life in the field, making them a better fit for projects with extended construction timelines or sites where the sediment control system needs to remain effective through multiple storm seasons before vegetation is fully established. The larger 20 inch diameter option provides additional flow capacity for higher-volume runoff conditions where a standard 12 inch wattle may be undersized.

CORE Filter Socks provide a three-dimensional alternative to traditional silt fence and straw wattles.
