TYPAR BioBarrier Root Control System
Root Control System for Protecting Sidewalks, Foundations, Walls, Pools, and Site Structures
TYPAR BioBarrier Root Control System works invisibly below grade to redirect roots away from the structures, pavements, and infrastructure that need protection. Its nodules slowly release Trifluralin, which prevents root tip cell division, the process roots use to grow. A small amount of Trifluralin is continuously released and replaced as it biodegrades, helping maintain the effectiveness and long life of the herbicide zone.
Placed beside the object to be protected, BioBarrier creates a zone of protection around the nodules. Roots growing into that zone are redirected, while roots outside the zone continue to grow normally. Because Trifluralin is not systemic, tree health is not impacted. Since the system includes a standard drainage fabric, BioBarrier also allows water, air, and nutrients to pass through without adversely affecting soil hydrology.
